How It Works: The Multistage Principle

A multi-stage vertical pump contains at least two impellers driven by a shared motor. Fluid enters the bottom suction port and passes through the first impeller, where pressure increases. It then moves sequentially through each subsequent stage via diffusers, with pressure building at every step. The more stages, the higher the final discharge pressure—delivered from the top outlet.

This design makes multistage pumps the preferred choice for:

3. The pumps are available in different materials (Cast Iron, 304SS, 316SS) and in different head and flow rates.

  • CDL vertical multistage pump: Standard construction typically uses cast iron. It is suitable for slightly corrosive liquid.
  • CDLF vertical multistage pump: Stainless Steel (e.g., AISI 304 or 316) wetted parts, suitable for clean water, slightly corrosive liquids, or applications requiring hygiene (potable water, food processing). It is suitable for slightly corrosive liquid.
