Why Choose PE/HDPE for Your Pump Station?
The core structure—the cylinder (wet well)—is manufactured from polyethylene (PE) , specifically high-density polyethylene (HDPE) . This material choice delivers critical advantages over traditional concrete or steel tanks:

 

Feature Benefit
Superior Corrosion Resistance Wastewater is highly corrosive. Unlike concrete, which deteriorates over time, HDPE is inherently resistant to chemical attack, hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) gas, and acidic effluents. This significantly extends the service life of your pump station.
Lightweight & High Strength HDPE is lighter than concrete or steel, reducing transportation costs and simplifying onsite handling.

How to Select the Right Wet Well Packaged Pumping Station
Choosing the correct pumping station is critical for long-term performance and cost efficiency. Consider these three essential factors:

1. Duty Point (Flow & Head)
The duty point is the combination of flow rate (m³/h or GPM) and total dynamic head (meters or feet) required to move the wastewater from your site to the discharge point. This determines:

  • Suitable pump model
  • Motor power (kW/HP)
  • Valve pressure rating
  • Pipework diameter

 

2. Pumped Medium (What are you pumping?)
The characteristics of the fluid dictate the materials and pump type:

  • Clean / Grey Water: Standard cast iron pumps may suffice.
  • Raw Sewage with Solids: Requires non-clog vortex pumps or grinder pumps (cutter pumps) to macerate fibrous materials.
  • Corrosive / Industrial Effluent: May necessitate stainless steel pumps or special coatings.

 

3. Chamber Storage Capacity
The wet well must be sized to:

  • House all mechanical equipment (pumps, level sensors).
  • Provide sufficient storage volume to handle peak inflows.
  • Offer emergency storage capacity in case of power failure, allowing connected facilities (homes, businesses) to continue discharging without immediate backup.
