GRP Pump Station Project In Singapore

GRP Pump Station Project In Singapore

Jade Palace Gardens is a prestigious high-rise residential condominium in eastern Singapore. With eight 42-story towers and over 1,800 residential units, the development is home to more than 5,000 residents. Designed with feng shui principles and lush tropical landscaping, it was intended to be an oasis of tranquility.

The original sewage pump station, a concrete wet well installed during Phase 1 construction, was struggling to cope with the wastewater generated by such intense population density. Morning and evening peak flows overwhelmed the system. Wet wipes, cooking oil, and sediment accumulated inside the rough concrete basin. Blockages occurred fortnightly. On three occasions, sewage backflow flooded the basement carpark.

Facilities manager Mr. Tan Kian Hwee described the frustration: “Every two weeks, same problem. We would open the wet well, and the smell—terrible. Our team spent more time cleaning than maintaining. Residents lost confidence.”

The development needed more than a pump replacement. It needed a completely reimagined system.

The Solution: Denor GRP Integrated Pump Station

Denor proposed a full retrofit: a factory-engineered, hydraulically optimized GRP integrated pump station designed specifically for high-density residential wastewater.

1. Ultra-Smooth, Non-Stick GRP Construction
Unlike the original concrete basin, Denor’s glass-reinforced plastic is inherently smooth and non-porous. Grease cannot cling. Rags cannot snag. In Singapore’s hot, humid climate, where sewage septicity accelerates corrosion, GRP remains completely inert—no spalling, no lining failure, no deterioration.

2. Self-Cleansing Hydraulic Floor Profile
Denor eliminated the flat floor and dead zones with a precision-engineered sump slope that promotes continuous scouring. Sediment stays suspended. Solids flow freely. The wet well remains clean, pump after pump cycle.

3. Smart VFD Control with Telemetry
Variable frequency drives match pump output to real-time inflow. During night hours, pumps glide. During peak periods, they respond instantly. A built-in telemetry unit transmits performance data directly to facility management smartphones—no manual inspections required.

4. Odor-Sealing System
A gas-tight GRP cover with activated carbon filtration was integrated, containing all odors within the wet well. The landscaped pump house now sits discreetly beside the koi pond, entirely unnoticed by residents.

Since Denor commissioning:

  • Zero blockages. Eighteen months of continuous operation. No emergency call-outs. No basement flooding.
  • 38% reduction in energy consumption. Smooth hydraulics and intelligent pump control delivered savings beyond projection.
  • Zero odor complaints. Residents have stopped noticing the pump station entirely.
  • Maintenance hours reduced by 90%. Mr. Tan’s team now conducts only monthly visual checks.

Resident and Management Response

“I was skeptical,” said Mr. Tan. “A pump station is a pump station—or so I thought. Denor proved me wrong. This is not an upgrade. It is a completely different class of product.”The Jade Palace Gardens management committee has since featured the Denor retrofit in their sustainability report, highlighting both environmental and operational gains.

Jade Palace Gardens demonstrates that even the most demanding high-density residential developments can achieve reliable, efficient, and odor-free wastewater pumping. With Denor GRP integrated technology, the development turned a chronic liability into an invisible asset.
